Social Worker
In earlier days where social work was considered as the work of the rich and economically feasible, in today's world social work is well established as a full fledged professional at par with any other profession.
Social work is no longer limited to the conventional definition of involved in charity or welfare- oriented organizations though many institutes employing personnel with social work qualifications are involved in such activities. The work of a social worker can include various dynamics such as providing managing assistance, helping in educational or healthcare programmes or providing assiatnce in welfare activities such asthe protection of children and women.
Job Responsibility :
- Identify people who need help
- Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals
- Develop plans to improve their clients’ well-being
- Help clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives, such as illness, divorce, or unemployment
- Research and refer clients to community resources, such as food stamps, child care, and health care
- Help clients work with government agencies to apply for and receive benefits such as Medicare
- Respond to crisis situations such as child abuse
- Advocate for and help clients get resources that would improve their well-being
- Follow up with clients to ensure that their situations have improved
- Evaluate services provided to ensure that they are effective

REMUNERATION
The salaries and perks for social workers depend majorly on the qualification and work experience of the candidates. Fresher candidates can easily get a salary of Rs.8000/- to Rs.15,000/- in government and non-government sector.
The international NGOs and organizations like UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO pays higher salaries and perks to their social workers. Salaries in the NGOs also depend on their financial resources and many international agencies pay well.
Earlier, the compensation for social workers was not much but now with the increasing demand for workers and government-aid, the salaries and compensation is increasing in social work organizations.
