To become an Armed Forces officer in India, you can follow these steps:
1. Educational Qualifications: You need to have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university to apply for Officer level entry. For some specialized branches, specific educational qualifications may be required.
2. Age Criteria: The age requirement varies based on the branch of service. Generally, the minimum age limit for joining the Armed Forces as an officer is 20 years, and the maximum age limit is 24 years.
3. Clear the Entrance Examination: To join the Armed Forces as an officer, you need to clear the entrance examination conducted by the respective branches of the service. The entrance exams include the following:
4. National Defence Academy (NDA) exam - for Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam - for Army, Navy, and Air Force.
AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) - for Air Force
SSB Interview: After clearing the entrance exam, you will have to appear for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, which is conducted by the respective branches of the service. The SSB interview includes a series of tests and evaluations to determine your suitability for the Armed Forces.
5. Medical Examination: After clearing the SSB interview, you will have to undergo a medical examination to ensure that you are physically and mentally fit to join the Armed Forces.
6. Training: After clearing the medical examination, you will have to undergo rigorous training at the respective training academies of the service. The training period is usually around 18 to 24 months, and it includes physical training, military tactics, and leadership development.
